The web site redesign will provide visitors with a clear, uncluttered impression about the hospital; leading to greater confidence in their services and programs. Essential information about the hospital will be presented through the use of a quick links area that is present on all pages. Also, a robust and thorough search function is prominently located on all pages. The goal is to eventually have all hospital divisions populate and maintain their own portion of the site.
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is the leading medical facility for Hamilton and the surrounding areas. Their reputation is based on decades of compassionate and sensitive care. St Joseph’s is a university teaching hospital, affiliated with the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University. With a great sense of history and commitment to quality, St. Joseph’s seeks a web presence that reflects their position in the healthcare community. The previous web site was unfocused, cluttered and confusing for visitors who are looking to find specific information. The initial goals for the redesign were to create a cohesive brand with a clean looking and friendly interface for visitors. Essential information is presented in a way that is simple, familiar and easy to navigate. The new design is able to expand and accommodate fluctuating (database-driven) content, while maintaining a clean user experience. Primary St. Joseph’s staff members have the ability to update and add to content through a content management system.
St. Joseph’s target audience includes the general public, students and internal staff. These individuals visit the web site to collect a variety of information about the hospital and its services. Other visitors to the site may include those who require medical care thus the site's overall content structure is simple and accessible.
